What inspired and motivated me to become a NLP and Life Coach

NLP and Life coaching fundamentally changed my life.
Over fifteen years ago I was at University studying to be a Psychologist and at the same time, I started an outdoor and after school pursuits club. I was a single mum, studying and working all hours, so I wasn’t getting the quality time I wanted with my children. I wanted to encourage children to get outside in the fresh air instead of sitting in a class after school or in the holidays. However, it was more than that. I wanted to teach children how to be part of a team, leadership skills and to empower children to believe in themselves. We did rock climbing, archery, built camps out of willow, raft building, horse riding, team games and lots more. At the end of every session I would tell the children 3 good things I noticed about them all. I ignored any bad behaviour and I looked for how great each of them were. The business was such a success that I got offered land, property and money to expand from the parents of the children I coached. I can honestly say, I believed I was on the right path, my purpose for being here, it was the best time I have spent with my children and fulfilling as a career.
Then a year later it was all snatched away. An event happened, that devasted and crushed everyone in my family including our extended family. This one event changed all of us and shaped our lives from there on. We all found a way to cope, however, because it impinged on all of our lives and we were all suffering we couldn’t support each other. Even today our family is not the same.
This event changed my life, I had been through some rough times in my life before. However I always believed I was strong enough to cope with anything and with my sheer determination and grit would get me through. This one event “broke” me. I felt it on that day and I was changed in a second. Shock was the first reaction and “fear and panic” took over my life every day, I walked away from the business and university and I became stuck by this one event every day.
The one thing that kept me going was my children. They were my inspiration to get up every day and carry on. I wanted to prove to my children that you can overcome things, so I picked myself up and put myself back together the best I knew how. I found a “normal” 9-5 job, I carried on with a mundane, normal existence, the passion for life and the drive for great things was gone and I felt like I was a robot.
For fourteen years I suffered with PTSD in silence. I got more frustrated with how my life was going. I knew my passion was helping others and the business I walked away from. I was desperate to be sparked again. I made a decision to start looking for help. I felt it was time to become unstuck, however I didn’t know where to start. I tried therapy. This helped to a fashion, however I still had the symptoms. I was not being taught how to deal with what had happened.
Then I looked up Life coaching, this was the best decision I ever made. I was being taught techniques to deal with panic and anxiety. I was given work to do at home to find what was in “ME” to cope differently. I was given a new way of communicating, that felt safe and non-intrusive that helped deal with the PTSD as well as a technique that completely removed that event from my conscious. It is now a distant memory. Life coaching was so effective that not only did it help me deal with PTSD, it also opened up new doors to communication and a new career.
I walked out of my last life coaching session and walked back into education with passion and drive that I hadn’t had for fifteen years. I am passionate about NLP and Life Coaching, I am the living proof that it works. I want to empower others to change their lives and believe that they can eliminate trauma experiences, anxiety and panic and reach goals that seemed impossible. It is ourselves and our mind-set that is stopping us from going from "normal" to GREAT. I chose to combine walking with life coaching, because it is more relaxing, creative, builds rapport faster, you find clarity and walking helps you explore how amazing you really are. You can locate the skills and resources that you already have to deal with your problem.
Clients get the opportunity to choose Jane or myself to do individual walking and coaching, Jane specialise in phobia and I specialise in trauma coaching, however we are both qualified in dealing with all area's including relationship, personal and career coaching or we join forces and offer group walks and coaching, You can choose to join a group walk. The aim behind the group coaching is that it builds a automatic support group for everyone that attends. My dream is that, if we do an anxiety and panic group walk, then the people in the group will understand each other. You will be keen to learn what Jane and myself teach you and when you walk away you will have a support group through the people you’ve met. If you feel you need a one to one, then you can choose Jane or myself to help you further.
